One of the biggest events in South African school rowing is back.

From Friday to March 2, the Rand Merchant Bank South African Schools Rowing Championships will take place at Roodeplaat Dam in Gauteng, bringing together the country’s best young rowers for a weekend of fierce competition and fast-paced racing.

With over 1500 athletes competing across a range of boat classes, SA Champs marks the pinnacle of the school rowing season. Months of hard work, early mornings, and thousands of strokes all lead to this—one final showdown on the national stage.

With rivalries reigniting, new talent emerging, and national titles on the line, SA Champs 2025 promises fast-paced, high-stakes racing that will push crews to their limits. Whether you’re a rower, coach, parent, or fan—this is an event you don’t want to miss.
