Amazon v Africa loading for EFC 23

The full fight card for EFC 123: Africa vs Brazil has been finalised, with several key bouts confirmed ahead of the highly anticipated event at the World Sports Betting Arena on Thursday.

The main card features three championship matchups with African and Brazilian fighters meeting in a series of bouts designed to showcase international talent and regional dominance in the cage.

Amanda Lino takes on Brazil’s Mariana Salles for the vacant women’s flyweight title, JC Lamprecht (below) faces Luis Paulo Picanço in a light heavyweight title bout, and Willie van Rooyen meets Kleberson Sousa in a flyweight title contest.

In one of the night’s most intriguing preliminary bouts, South Africa’s Zhane Tannous will make his professional debut against Congo’s Mark Kamba in a middleweight clash. Tannous, a decorated amateur and NWU graduate, is known for his technical grappling and well-rounded skill set. He steps into the professional ranks after years of success under the guidance of CGA coach Roevan de Beer.

His opponent, Kamba, brings nearly a decade of professional experience and a string of knockout victories. Having recently dispatched Jaden van der Merwe in the first round, Kamba is looking to continue his momentum against the newcomer.

Meanwhile, South African flyweight Terence Balelo will square off against Brazil’s Marcio Oliveira in a featured main card contest. Balelo, who was recently considered the top contender in the division, returns to action after opting not to wait for a vacant title fight. He now faces Oliveira, a submission specialist from the Amazon with a 7-2 record.

The bout is seen as a key test for both athletes; Balelo seeking to reassert his place at the top, and Oliveira aiming to make a statement on South African soil.
