Telkom Netball League roars back

Netball South Africa has announced the return of the Telkom Netball League, Africa’s largest franchise netball competition. The league will officially commence on Saturday, April 26 at the Sun City Superbowl in the North West Province.

This year’s edition promises to be bigger and better, featuring two additional teams: the SPAR Baby Proteas (South Africa’s U-21) and an invitational side from Zimbabwe. The inclusion of the SPAR Baby Proteas is particularly significant as the team prepares for the Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar later this year.

The Telkom Netball League will be held over three action-packed Power Weeks. The first edition will run from April 26 to May 4 at the Sun City Superbowl. The second Power Week will take place from June 13-17, and the final edition is scheduled for July 14-20, where the champions will be crowned.

Four-time champions, Free State Crinums, will be defending their Division A title, while KwaZulu-Natal Kingdom Stars aim to prove themselves after missing out on promotion to Division A last season.

Netball South Africa President, Cecilia Molokwane, said: “This season, the Telkom Netball League provides an even bigger platform for both seasoned stars and emerging talent to showcase their skills. We are proud to be associated with a league that remains committed to developing the next generation of netball champions.”

Molokwane also highlighted the significance of the SPAR Baby Proteas’ participation. “This season’s TNL will be themed around the ‘Road to Gibraltar,’ celebrating the journey of the SPAR Baby Proteas towards the Netball Youth World Cup 2025. Their participation marks a significant milestone in their development, providing invaluable experience for success on the world stage.”

Netball South Africa will soon confirm fixtures, ticketing details, and broadcast schedules.
